Blue Devils lose to Pender in heart-breaker
PENDER – The Wynot Blue Devils travelled to Pender to do battle with the Pendragons on Friday night in what was predicted to be a tightly contested matchup. The game would end up that way but it did not go as scripted. Wynot would struggle mightly In the first half but rallied in the second half to make a game of it. The game did go down to the wire with Pender earning the 35-33 win.

Cedar boys earn wins over County foes
LAUREL – The Cedar Catholic Trojans hit the road for a couple of wins to open the 2024 portion of the season and won a couple of games after dropping the third game of the campaign in the finals of the Wayne tournament. The two wins improved the Trojans season tally to 8-3 with three big games on the horizon.

STANTON – The Hartington-Newcastle offense received a boost of confidence in the consolation finals of the Stanton Holiday Tournament here Dec. 29 as they turned away the host Mustangs 52-28 after dropping a tough-opening round match up with undefeated Lutheran High Northeast.

Cedar Catholic’s Braeden Reifenrath goes up for the dunk during action against Winnebago in the first round of the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout at Wayne State College on Thursday. Cedar Catholic defeated Winnebago 71-49 to move on to the semi-finals where they knocked off Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. Wayne then ended Cedar’s title run in Saturday’s championship game. Cedar has a rematch with LCC this Thursday and will face Wayne again later this month.
