NORFOLK - The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcat and Lady Wildcat track teams competed in the Norfolk Catholic Invitational on May 8 and both teams finished sixth in the final team standings.
Norfolk Catholic won bot divisions on the day, with the Knights using a 111-95 advantage over O’Neill to take the boys title and the Lady Knights outlasted Pierce 129-114.
The Wildcats scored 58 points while the Lady ‘Cats had 33.
The Wildcats dominated the sprints with Will Feilmeier taking the 100 in 11.48 seconds and Cole Rosener taking gold in the 200 in 23.48 seconds.
Rosener also placed second in the long jump with a best of 20-feet-3.75-inches.
Maximus McCray used a hop, step and jump of 39-09.75 for second and teammate Mason Krause was fourth with a jump of 38-07.
Brayden Lammers tied for the best jump in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-11 but when counting his misses, he ended up third. Ty Opfer was fifth at 5-07.
Jason Heimes was fifth in the pole vault, Dane Gotch was sixth in the 800 and Aidan Anderson was sixth in the 3,200.
The Wildcat 400 relay team consisting of Rosener, Krause, Mc-Cray and Heimes circled the track in 45.91 for third.
The Lady Wildcats were led by freshman, Vayda Lippert who placed second in the 400 and second in the high jump for 16 points for her team.
Jade Ford was fifth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump, Maddie Steffen placed fifth in the 400 and Ella Eickhoff took fifth in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Lady ‘Cat 400-meter relay team of Abi Rice, Steffen, Hazel Hochstein and Eickhoff placed sixth in the event with a time of 55.07.
The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats will head to Humphrey May 14 for the D-3 District Track Meet.
