1964: Dogs dead from poisoning
75 Years Ago - May 5, 1949 RANDOLPH – A bridge on a county road three miles south of Randolph was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning. The ten-foot bridge was engulfed in flames and beyond saving by the time the Randolph Volunteer Fire Department arrived. Of crested planks, the bridge burned rapidly, with the flames fanned by the strong wind.

PONCA - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge track teams completed a busy week with the Lewis & Clark Conference Meet held here April 27. Earlier in the week the teams were in Creighton for an invitational which saw the Lady Bears bring home the runner-up hardware.

Laurel High School produces another crop of graduates in May 1943
The month of May brought a flurry of activities for members of the Senior class of 1943. The first activity was “skip day.” Thirty-five of the 38 seniors were driven to Sioux City where they spent the morning visiting city hall, the fire department, and the bomber plant. After lunch they spent the afternoon rollerskating on the floor of the Rigadon ballroom. In the evening they attended a movie.
