HARTINGTON — Adaline Lenhoff, daughter of Nick and Lindsey Lenhoff, is the winner of the Hartington Public Library “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” award. Adaline received a medal, a certificate, her final prize and a free book from the Hartington library. Adaline will be entering Kindergarten at Hartington-Newcastle in the fall of 2027.
She likes to visit the library with her mom, Lindsey, older siblings, and her cousin, Zoey. She loves books, with her favorite being anything about Barbie. Her favorite thing about the library is to play with all the interactive toys in the children’s section.
Adaline’s dad and mom have instilled the love of books and the library at a young age. Lindsey is a library board member.
Maya Kramer is also a “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” award winner. Maya is the daughter of Zach and Laci Kramer. She received a medal, a certificate, her final prize and a free book from the Hartington Public Library. Maya is just 19 months old.
Maya loves books, and has a great vocabulary at such a young age. Her favorite library book is “Who is Coming to our House” by Joseph Slate. Her favorite thing to do at the library is to play with the kitchen set and all the puppets and stuffed animals.
The “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” program was launched to get children ready for school, and to encourage more parent/ child library visits. Books are logged and prizes are awarded along the way. One of the best ways to encourage pre-reading skills is to spend time sharing books each and every day. Reading provides a solid foundation, a key to school and learning success.
