WYNOT — The Winnebago Indians came calling at Wynot in girls basketball action Friday.

The Lady Blue Devils built an early lead, and them made it stand up as they earned the 58-47 win.

This game featured the return to action of Karley Heimes who had been nursing a bad ankle for a couple of games. She led the Lady Devils with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Katelyn Heine kept the Indian defense spread out as she rained in four 3-pointers and Shaelee Planer also hit double figures with her 10-point effort.

Winnebago used a twoheaded attack led by the inside play of Keisha Snyder, who tied for scoring honors with her strong post play to finish with 23 points and 16 rebounds.

Jayla Price drove to the basket consistently and connected for 17 points to help the Lady Indians’ cause.

Both teams started slowly in the first quarter, with the Indians gaining a 10-7 advantage. Keisha Snyder hit for six points in the paint for Winnebago and Wynot got a trey by Katelyn Heine to lead their offenses.

Wynot would ramp up the pressure in the second quarter and go on a big 24-9 run. The Lady Devils got six points each from Shaelee Planer and Karley Heimes and 3-pointers by Katelyn Heine and Michaela Lange to lead the onslaught. Winnebago got four points each from Jayda Price and Keisha Snyder.

The Lady Blue Devils continued to keep their foot on the gas in the third frame. Two more 3-pointers by Katelyn Heine and six points in the paint by Karley Heimes fueled the run. The Indians got five more points from Keisha Snyder and trey by Jaidan Payer but they lost ground, trailing 47-31 going into the final period.

Synder and Payer would try to rally the Indians in the fourth quarter, with seven and five points respectively. Wynot’s Karley Heimes would minimize the damage with nine more points as the Lady Blue Devils earned the 58-47 win.

The Lady Blue Devils hope to continue their winning way as they cross the river to take on Viborg-Hurley (S.D.) for their next game.
