Wynot girls dominate Plainview Lady Pirates

WYNOT — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils picked up their 15th win of the season on

Saturday night in their opening round game of the Lewis and Clark Tournament. The Lady Devils had little trouble dispatching the Plainview Lady Pirates as their defense completely shut down the visitors in the first half as they rolled to the 58-18 win.

Wynot was led by Michaela Lange with a game-high 19 points and followed by Katelyn Heine with 13 points. Wynot also got three-pointers from Shaelee Planer, Krystal Sudbeck and Edyn Sudbeck to help the scoring barrage.

Plainview was led by Peace Akinnigbagbe with five points and Abby Rafert and Caroline Akinnigbagbe hit three-pointers for the Lady Pirates.

Wynot’s full court pressure gave the Lady Pirates fits in the opening quarter as they held their opponent to a single point. Meanwhile, Michaela Lange poured in 12 points for the Lady Devils and Shaelee Planer and Katelyn Heine each drained a three-pointer as Wynot built a 22-1 early lead.

It was more defense for the Lady Blue Devils in the second quarter as they held Plainview to just one point in that period as well.

Michaela Lange and Katelyn Heine each hit a trey and Kendra Pinkelman had a bucket as Wynot had a commanding 37-2 halftime lead.

Caroline Akinnigbagbe and Abby Rafert each drained three-pointers for Plainview in the third quarter. Wynot got four more points from Katelyn Heine and Edyn Sudbeck hit from long range as the Lady Blue Devils increased their lead to 48-10.

Reserves mopped up in the fourth quarter.
