Posted in:

WYNOT — The Oct. 8 meeting of the Shannon Trail Promoters was held at Donna’s Diner in Wynot.  The agenda was reviewed.  The National Park’s Shannon Trail interpretive signs and several Pvt. Shannon carvings were cleaned and preservative treated recently.  Care of these displays is now being turned over to the towns where they reside.

Bill Hayes, the Pvt. Shannon reinactor, will speak at Wausa’s school Nov.12.

The National Lewis and Clark Trail has now been extended from Wood River, Ill., to Pittsburg, Pa. It’s length is 4900 miles.  In the future, the trail may extend on to Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and to Thomas Jeffersons home, Monticello.

The year end banquet is Nov. 6 at Bloomfield’s Hive. Social time is 6 p,m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. Meal reservations must be made by Nov. 1, by calling 402-373-2663.

The public is also welcome at 7:15 p.m., to learn of “Nebraska’s Hidden Treasures” from former Omaha World Herald columnists Matthew and Sarah Baker Hansen.
