Lutheran High Lady Eagles pull away from Cedar

HARTINGTON — The Lutheran High Northeast Lady Eagles flew out of the gate and took control early Thursday night against Cedar Catholic.

The Lady Eagles built a quick 19-10 first-quarter lead, then expanded that lead to 31-20 at the halftime break.

The Lady Trojans rallied in the second half to outscore the Lady Eagles, 35-31, but it wasn’t enough to complete any come-from-behind plans.

The long ball was deadly for the Lady Eagles Thursday.

Every time Cedar started to gain momentum, the Blue and White nailed a trey. The Norfolk squad ended up hitting 6-13 from long distance on the night.

Cedar couldn’t find the same success from downtown, in fact, it looked like the Lady Trojans’ basket had a lid on it, as only 2-21 3-point attempts found the mark.

Cedar senior Abby Hochstein put in one of her best offensive efforts of the season, hitting for a teamhigh 20 points to lead Cedar.

Cedar Freshman Makenna Noecker also had a solid game with 13 points, while Brynn Wortmann connected for 12.

Cedar took on Crofton Monday in the first round of the MidState Conference Tourney.
