Posted in:

LINCOLN - This year’s boys’ and girls’ state basketball tournaments have been expanded from three days to five days because of the pandemic.

The State Tourney will begin Tuesday with Class A and Class B teams competing on the opening day.

All other classes will have their first-round games on Wednesday.

Class C2 through D2 will have their semifinal-round games on Thursday at the Pinnacle Bank Arena, with all the championship games set for Saturday at PBA.

Friday has been set aside as the day for consolation-round games. On Saturday, the final two teams in each class will square off to play for state titles.

NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations, will provide live coverage of championship games played at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The schedule of games will be the same both Saturdays. Start times for the second, fourth and sixth games are tentative, depending on what time the previous games conclude..

Calling the action on March 6 will be sportscaster Larry Punteney, along with All-American and former Doane University basketball player Truth Nolin as color analyst. KETV Sports Director Andy Kendeigh will report from the sidelines.

On March 13, Punteney will be joined by former University of Nebraska basketball player Andy Markowski as color analyst. Kendeigh will return with reports from the sidelines.

“NSAA State Girls High School Basketball Championships” and “NSAA State Boys High School Basketball Championships” are produced in cooperation with the Nebraska School Activities Association.

All championship games will be streamed live at netNebraska.org and on the NET App.
