Cedar Hoops teams post 7-2 record at Wayne Tourney
WAYNE—The Cedar Hoops youth boys basketball teams followed up an 8-1 record last week with a 7-2 record last weekend and two team titles.
The sixth grade boys cruised to a 3-0 record for the weekend, beating Elkhorn Valley 59-9 and Ponca 56-17 in the first two matches.
In the title game the sixth graders raced out to an early 25-0 lead en route to a 51-22 victory over Wayne.
Two 4-5 grade boys teams competed. The Trojans dropped their first two games before bouncing back with a 29-point win over Plainview.
The Saints captured first in their division with wins against Norfolk Catholic and Plainview and then a win over Ponca. In the championship game against Ponca, the Saints held an early 12-4 lead before being held scoreless for the next 26 minutes. The Saints trailed 25-12 with 3:30 remaining in the contest, but came back in dramatic fashion to win 26-25, capping off a 3-0 weekend.
