HARTINGTON — A woman who was sentenced here 20 years ago for her role in a drug operation, is seeking to have her name exonerated.

“This is one of the larger drug investigations we’ve ever had in this county, and one of the largest ones I’ve been exposed to,” District Judge Robert Otte said prior to handing out sentences to Brian Brewer, Christine Hinkel and Jennifer Boettcher in March 1993.

Jennifer (Boettcher) Wiseman was just 17 years old when she was arrested in Cedar County for a crime involving marijuana, a move that landed her in prison as a convicted felon.

In March 1993, just a few days after her 18th birthday, she was sentenced to 12-18 months in prison.

HARTINGTON — A piece of land three miles north of the Hwy 84-15 intersection was the perfect spot for a lesson on land and wildlife conservation.

George and Gretchen Hirschbach welcomed participants to their property for a Habitat Management Tour which included information on wildflowers, grasses, trees, birds and other wildlife.

BATTLE CREEK — The Hartington American Legion Senior baseball team stayed out of the loser’s bracket with a first-round bye.

The team then earned an easy 12-0 win over Neligh in Saturday’s second-round game. Hartington then advanced to the title game with a 10-0 win over Wakefield-Ponca on Monday night.

Saturday’s game was delayed due to rain, and Hartington’s offense showed the affects of the delay as they weren’t able to get the bats moving until the third inning.

DEATHS: Luvern “Vick” Pinkelman, Walter B. Stevens, N. Evolyn Rathgeber, Arlo Arens, Yvonne Dirks, Leon Grimm, Jean Black, Delilah Gosch.
