Two more COVID deaths reported in local health district
WAYNE — Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department is reporting two new COVID-19 related deaths for the health district.
These deaths involve a child and also an adult in their 20’s; both with underlying health conditions.
“We are saddened by this news and what our neighbors are experiencing as a result of this virus,” said NNPHD Health Director Julie Rother.
She said people need to remain vigilant in order to contain the virus.
“Please remember to practice the social distancing, wearing a face mask in public, washing hands often and staying home when sick to help slow the spread of the virus,” she said.
The Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department is also reporting new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in the health district.
As of Monday afternoon, test reports for people living in the NNPHD Health District of Cedar, Dixon, Thurston and Wayne Counties indicate there have been 1246 COVID-19 tests conducted with 983 negatives and the results of 38 tests still pending.
Thurston County has by far the most cases in the District with 148. Cedar County has the fewest cases, having reported only eight.
