Drive-in auction, silent auction are set for June 15

HARTINGTON — Cedar County Catholic Schools’ Gala goers can get set for a Drive-In Live Mini-Auction on Monday, June 15, in the Msgr. Werner Activity Center Parking Lot.

The 6 p.m. Drive-In Auction will kick-off the Silent Auction Open House for the following three evenings, June 16, 17, and 18, from 4-7 p.m. On Monday, Silent Auction bidders can place bids before, during, and after the Live Auction that consists of 50 items. The Drive-In Auction will be a fun evening with courtesy snacks and water delivered by “carhops.”

Final bids on the approximate 650 Silent Auction gifts must be in no later than 7 p.m. sharp Thursday.

Gala ticket holders must check-in to get bid numbers. Winning bidders will be notified and need to pay for purchased items to be picked up at the Catholic Development Office the following week, June 22-25, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and on Friday, June 26, by 3 p.m.

In lieu of the Gala dinner that will not be held due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, Gala ticket holders will have the opportunity to accept a $15 dinner credit towards their Gala invoices for auction purchases. One $15 credit per personally-paid ticket/invoice will be honored.

Gala 2020 will be noted in the Catholic schools’ history for more than its 25th anniversary. Twentyfour annual fundraising events have raised over $4.44 million for the Catholic schools here. This year’s Gala with sequel events will be recorded as the COVID-19 Gala conducted through a three-phase effort.

“The past nine months have consisted of planning, preparing, replanning, re-arranging, advertising, more public relations, and now preparing a third time for a Gala event,” said Joani Potts, Catholic Development Director for Cedar County Catholic Schools and Parishes.

The 25th Gala was originally scheduled for March 21. A postponed dinner and auction date was set at that time for May 16. On May 16 when it was not possible to have the traditional Gala dinner auction, an online virtual Grand Auction was held, thanks to Creamer, Heimes, Janssen Auctioneers and AuctionTime.com/Equipment Fax who gave their services to the Grand Auction that netted approximately $204,000.

“The Gala’s first online virtual Grand Auction exceeded anticipation due to the great generosity of Catholic school supporters who give without measure. Out-of-town bidders also gave the Grand Auction a big boost. The Grand Auction will tentatively also offer the online feature with the in-person live auction next year,” Potts said. The June 15-18 Drive-in and

The June 15-18 Drive-in and Silent Auctions will make another change. The re-scheduled Aug. 9 Gala dinner and Silent Auction will no longer be held, Potts said.

“Thank you to all Gala supporters, Committee members, Gala ticket holders, gift donors and buyers for all your patience to complete this event,” Potts said.
