This year’s Cedar Catholic wrestling squad has some good numbers

Posted in:

“This team has the potential for sure to be one of the best, not only in school history but a team that can contend for tournament titles and possibly dual our way into the state duals,” Bartling said. “I can easily see the vast majority of this team not only making a run at state, but I expect to be competing towards the podium in Omaha.”

Korth says he believes the team is full of skilled grapplers and the freshmen have plenty of potential to put points on the board.

“We have big goals in mind and we can definitely win a few trophies to put in the display case,” Korth said. “We have a great coaching staff that will make wrestling fun and continue to push us to be our best. We’ll have most of our weights filled - more than we’ve had in a long time.

“The program is really growing and there’s a lot more kids getting into wrestling now with that League of Heroes also helping. It’s really making a lot of good wrestlers out of that to come into the program.”

The program also will have a first-time girls team led by Madison and Morgan Kuchta.

“Both of them practiced really hard last season learning the ins and outs of the sport and I cannot wait to see what they do on the mat now that they have a chance to compete,” Bartling said.

The Trojans potential boys lineup includes, 113 Maverick Heine, 120 Tavious Pinkelman, 126 Bodie Hochstein, 132 Easton Hochstein, 138 Brody Kleinschmit, 138 Ty Opfer, 144 Braeden Kleinschmit, 150 Hunter Kuchta, 157 Brady Hochstein, 165 Castin Pinkelman, 175 Kale Korth, 190 Nicholas Coleman.
