Wynot Lady Blue Devils pick up another big win

WYNOT — The Irene-Wakonda (S.D.) Lady Eagles came across the Missouri River to do battle with the Wynot Lady Blue Devils Dec. 19.

The Lady Eagles ran into a very hostile environment as the Lady Blue Devils protected their home court and took down the visitors 76-39.

Wynot had three players hit multiple threepointers as they connected on 11-of-22 baskets from long range for the night.

The duo of Allison Wieseler and Kenna Oligmueller each paced the Lady Blue Devils with 15 points. Myrah Sudbeck rained down four threepointers and Haley Wieseler hit twice from behind the arc to contribute. Kinslee Heimes also hit double figures with 11 points for Wynot.

Irene-Wakonda was led by Madison Orr with 10 points. Quinn McDonald and Kaitlynn Meligen were right behind with nine and eight points, respectively.

Orr scored four points to lead the Lady Eagles in the first quarter. Wynot raced to an 18-9 lead behind seven points each from Oligmueller and Allison Wieseler.

It was more of the same in the second quarter. Sudbeck drained a trio of three-pointers from the left corner and Kinslee Heimes hit a trey as well on her way to five points as the Lady Blue Devils took a commanding 39-15 lead at halftime.

Meligren had a pair of baskets for Irene-Wakonda. McDonald scored five points and Orr hit a pair of buckets in the third quarter.

Wynot’s offense was really clicking as it got a pair of three-pointers from Haley Wieseler, another one by Sudbeck, her fourth of the game and five more points from Allison Wieseler as the Lady Blue Devils went on a 28-16 run to increase their lead to 67-31 going into the final period of play.

Elsey Thompson hit a three-pointer for the Lady Eagles in the fourth quarter.

Annika Heimes answered with one for the Lady Blue Devils as Wynot went on to earn the 76-39 win.

Wynot next sees action in the Humphrey St. Francis Holiday Tournament Dec. 28-29.
