Wynot boys pick up big win over Homer

Wynot — The Wynot Blue Devils ended a two-game skid Tuesday when they got back to their winning ways with a convincing, 56-39, win over the Homer Knights.

The Blue Devils used a big 23-15 second-half scoring run to improve their season record to 3-2.

Garrett Lange used his strong rebounding and post play to take scoring honors for the game with his 17 points and nine rebounds. Dylan Heine drained a pair of 3-pointers and helped out with eight points.

Homer got 15 points from Kaleb Kinzie and seven points each from Kayden Harris and Landon Gilster to fuel the Knights on offense.

Wynot earned an early lead with four points each from Garrett Lange and Anthony Haberman as they built a 12-7 advantage at the end of one period.

Kaleb Kinzie led Homer with his five points.

The second quarter saw the two teams trading baskets. Homer got five points from Kayden Harris and four points from Logan Schreier. Wynot countered with four points in the paint by Trystan Heimes and a 3-pointer by Colin Wieseler, as they held onto a 27-21 halftime lead.

The Blue Devils would pull away in the third quarter led by a nine-point scoring burst by Garrett Lange and a long 3-pointer from the left corner by Dylan Heine, as they increased their lead to 41-27 going into the final quarter.

In the final quarter, Kaleb Kinzie tried to rally the Knights with his five points, but Wynot got help from their bench with a second trey by Dylan Heine and buckets in close from Jonathan Dodge, Colin Wieseler and Joesph Sudbeck, as they increased the winning margin to 56-39.
