Wynot boys get revenge over Bloomfield

WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils got revenge for an early season loss when they hosted the Bloomfield Bees in the first round of the annual Classic tournament on Thursday night.

The difference in the game was a big 22-9 third quarter run that helped the Blue Devils carry it to the end for the 50-36 win.

Garrett Lange and Anthony Haberman lead the way for the Blue Devils, with 12 points each. Lange also recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds for the game. Owen Sudbeck hit a pair of 3-pointers to contribute to the offense totals.

Bloomfield was led by their center Gabe Lauck who took scoring honors with his 18 points. Braden Eisenhauer hit for nine points for the Bees as well.

Scoring was at a premium in the opening quarter. Wynot got a 3-pointer by Owen Sudbeck and three free throws by Hunter Heimes. Bloomfield only managed a put back down low by Gabe Lauck and some free throws as Wynot earned a 10-4 lead.

In the second quarter, Wynot got a 3-pointer from Anthony Haberman and a basket, and one by Garrett Lange but struggled on offense.

Bloomfield rallied with five points by Lauck and a Cody Bruegman trey to cut the Wynot lead to 17-15 at the break.

Wynot would go on a big run in the third quarter, lead by 3-pointers by Anthony Haberman, Colin Wieseler and Jack Kuchta, along with six points in the paint by Garrett Lange. Wynot pulled away to take a 39- 24 lead at the end of three periods of play.

In the final quarter, the two teams traded baskets. The Bees got six points on the inside by Gabe Lauck, but the Blue Devils answered each score with a second trey by Owen Sudbeck and 7-10 from the line to advance to the championship game tomorrow, with the 50-36 win.
