LAUREL — The beginning of this school year brought much excitement as the new Laurel-Concord- Coleridge School became operational and functional for students and staff.

The high school portion of the project is now nearing completion as contractors focus on interior finish work, as well as final construction of the southeast wing housing the Family Consumer Science classroom, the Computer Science/Digital Media lab, and the Skilled Technical Science classroom and shop area.

This last phase of the high school project should be completed in December, said LCC Supt. Jeremy Christiansen.

Meanwhile, high school students continue to benefit from their much-improved learning environment, he said.

The elementary school phase of construction is well underway with structural steel for the addition substantially completed along with interior framing in the renovated spaces.

Underground plumbing has been completed and electrical work has begun. The focus of project work over the next several weeks will be roofing and interior wall construction as contractors prepare to continue their work throughout the winter months.

Overall, the elementary portion of the project continues to progress with a projected completion window of March 2024, Christiansen said.
