100 Years Ago This Week

HARTINGTON — Impromptu parties in the street, bonfires, church bells and parades accompanied the announcement 100 years ago this week, that an armistice had been signed and the Great War was over.

This week’s Cedar County News features a reproduction of the Nov. 14, 1918 Cedar County News front page announcing the end of the war — and describing the resulting celebrations across Cedar County.

This week’s News also features stories from our archives about some of the area residents that fought in World War I and  featues other news from the era, so area residents can get a feel for what life here was like 100 years ago.

Those stories can be found in the Cedar County News Archives section on page two.

To ready more, pick up a copy of the Cedar County News at Keith's, Steffen Drug, Stop N Go, Food Town or Casey's. You can also buy a single electronic edition of this week's Cedar County News at: https://etypeservices.com/Northeast%20Nebraska%20News%20CompanyID379/
