LCC runners compete in L&C cross country meet

WAUSA — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge cross country teams ran Oct. 6 in the Lewis & Clark Conference Cross Country Meet.

The Bears finished fifth in the team race while the Lady Bears placed third. Bloomfield-Wausa won the boys’ title with 20 points, Hartington-Newcastle was second with 49, the Bears ended up with 87.

Hartington-Newcastle won the girls’ championship with 20 points with Homer second at 34 and the Lady Bears third with 42.

In the boys’ race, Tyler Olson took fifth for the Bears and Preston Rose was 12th. Luke Woockman of Bloomfield-Wausa won the race with Brody Taylor from Ponca right on his heels.

Conner Rohrer of Creighton was third and Cade Wakeley from Bloomfield-Wausa was fourth.

Shane Langford wound up 43rd overall, Taner Stanley was 47th and Dillon Sanderson was 67th.

Lilly Harris won the girls’ race individually with Claire Rolfes from Hartington- Newcastle coming in second.

Faith Galvin was the top Lady Bear coming in sixth overall. Kate Tasler was 10th, Abbie Brummels was 14th and Addy Hoeppner was 16th.

Both teams are headed to the D-2 District Cross Country Meet at Twin Creeks Golf Course near Pender.

The meet was scheduled for Oct. 12, but was moved to Oct. 11 due to weather scheduled to arrive on Oct. 12.

The State Cross Country Championships are slated for Oct. 20 at the Kearney Country Club in Kearney.
