OMAHA – Dennis Johnson, 93, died peacefully Sept. 29, 2023, in Omaha. Dennis was born May 30, 1930, in Wausa, to Ernest and Rhoda (Ena) J ohnson, and farmed in that area for many years. Dennis married Betty Becker Feb. 19, 1955, in Fordyce. Dennis and Betty and their three children moved to Omaha in 1969. Dennis was a member of the Contractors, Laborers and Teamsters Union until his retirement. He and Betty then moved to Oakland, where they enjoyed country living until moving back to Omaha in 2011. Dennis and Betty shared many vacations, and Jackson, Wyo., was always a favorite spot. Dennis spent his retired years collecting farm toys, attending auctions and gardening. Dennis enjoyed sharing stories about his family and time spent growing up on the farm.

He was an avid card player and spent many hours engaged in lively games with the family. Feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in his backyard became a favorite pastime as well.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Cyndi Pereira, Omaha; and his sons, Harold, Blair, and David, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 10 grandchildren, Chelsea Boryca (Jason Feldman), Alex (Alexand ra) Boryca, Spencer Pereira, Erin (Mark) Watson, Anna (Adam) Hatter, Teddy (Britney) Johnson, Maggie (Beau) Schmidt, Matthew Johnson, Jonathan Johnson and Jennifer Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Roland (Mary) Johnson, Wausa.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carolyn Anderson, Claire Peterson, Lois Pearson and Gladys Duncan; and brother, Harold Johnson.
