Col. Todd S. Marsh

DALLAS, Texas — Col. Todd S. Marsh, 90, Dallas, Texas, died Oct. 24, 2020, at his home.

Celebration of Life Services was held at First Christian Church, Plano, Texas, with visitation at Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, the evening before.

Burial was at the Ft. Sill, Oklahoma National Cemetery, Lawton, Okla.

Todd was born in Hartington, Sept. 26, 1930, to Orlan and Lenyce Burney Marsh. He grew up on the family farm in Hartington, graduating from Hartington High School. He enlisted in the Army in 1950 and attended Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Ft. Sill, Okla. He became an artillery officer serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and was also stationed in Germany and across the U.S. Todd is in the Ft. Sill OCS Hall of Fame. During his service he completed a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He retired as a Colonel after 29 successful years of service and moved to Dallas.

Todd was married to Joyce Lynch Marsh for 50 years, prior to her death in 2001. They have two children, Lyn Hamilton (husband, Rick), Seneca, S.C., and Bob Marsh (wife, Carol), Chesterfield, Mo. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Kelly Hamilton Witkowski (husband, Rick) and two great-granddaughters, Keegan and Sloan.

He was blessed with two loves when he married Othella Gumm in 2003. Othella brought her daughter, Kimberly Gumm Dawson (husband, Todd), and grandson, Jack, Plano, Texas, to blend with Todd’s family.

Todd is survived by his sister, Derys Schultze, Forest Hills, Iowa, and was preceded in death by his brother, Dean Marsh, and sister, Barbara Schultze.
