Robert M. “Bob” Dowling

CARROLL — Robert M. “Bob” Dowling, 69, Carroll, died Oct. 25, 2020, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk.

Visitation was Thursday at the Carroll City Auditorium.

Arrangements were under the direction of Hasemann Funeral Home, Wayne.

A Christian service was held Oct. 30 at the Carroll City Auditorium, with Rev. Nick Baker and Huck Jager officiating.

Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, Carroll.

Pallbearers were Gerald Monk, Len Schmale, Adam Haselhorst, Scott Bethune, Wayne Dowling, Gregg Jager, Jon Jager, Gavin Jager and Mason Jager.

Robert Melvin Dowling was born July 23, 1951, at Oakland to Melvin C. and Una L. (Nagel) Dowling. He graduated from Randolph High School in 1970, and the University of Nebraska Technical College-Curtis in 1972. Robert married Tina L. Schoonover Nov. 14, 1987, at Carroll. They farmed and lived near Carroll.

Robert was a board member of Wayne County Farm Bureau, former board member of Carroll Methodist Church, 4-H Leader of the Blue Ribbon Winners for 10 years, and member of the Cornhusker Two Cylinder Club

Robert is survived by his wife, Tina; son, Ryan Dowling, Carroll; daughter, Becca (Brandon) Gunnink, Edgerton, Minn.; grandsons, Greyson Dowling and Jaxston Gunnink; sister, Nancy Bethune, O’Neill; sister, Gloria (Gordon) Kudera, Pierce; brother, Wayne (Kathleen) Dowling, Tribune, Kan.; sister, Marilyn (Richard) Brauer, Norfolk; brother, Dean (Brenda) Dowling, Hartington; sister, Lisa (Rob) Carpenter, Lincoln; mother-in-law, June Schoonover, Lincoln; sister-in-law, Theresa Schoonover, Lincoln; brother-in-law, Robert Lee Jr. (Jan) Schoonover, Avoca; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Robert Schoonover Sr.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
