Cedar cranks it up early to roll past Creighton

HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic set the tone early against Creighton here Tuesday, then hung on for a big 64-51 non-conference win.

The Trojans raced past the Bulldogs, 23-12, in the first frame. Turnovers and missed opportunities slowed Cedar in the second frame, as the Bulldogs were able to outscore the home team 16-7 to cut Cedar’s halftime lead to just two points — 30-28,

The Trojans refocused in the second half, outscoring Creighton 18-11 in the third quarter and 16-12 in the final frame to improve to 8-3 on the year.

Charlie Schroeder controlled the paint to pace the Trojans on the night, hitting 8-10 from the field.

He was able to connect for a doubledouble, with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Myles and Tate Thoene also hit for double figures in the contest with 18 and 10 points, respectively.

Cedar was hot from close in Tuesday, shooting 68 percent of their field goal shots.
