Blue Devils fall in heart-breaker with GACC

WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils hosted the Guardian Angel Blue Jays in a battle of a pair of highly rated teams on Thursday night.

Wynot fell behind but rallied in the second half to get the game down to a single basket in the final minute of play only to suffer their first loss of the season by a 52-47 score.

The Blue Devils had trouble controlling the Blue Jays Konner Kralik who went off for a game-high 24 points. Bryce Bailey helped the Jays’ cause contributing 11 points for the game.

Wynot was led by Chase Schroeder and Carson Wieseler with 11 points each. Three other players had five points each for the Blue Devils.

Konner Kralik hit for six first-quarter points and Myles Dinslage hit a trey for GACC .

Wynot got a basket each from four different players but fell behind 11-8 early.

In the second quarter five points from Chase Schroeder and a trey by Joseph Sudbeck fueled a small rally. The Blue Jays got five more points each by Konner Kralik and Bryce Bailey along with a trey by Joe Schwer as they increased their lead to 26-20 at halftime.

The two teams traded buckets in the third quarter. The Guardian Angels were paced by Konner Kralik and Myles Dinslage, each with a pair of baskets.

Wynot answered with three-pointers by Carson Wieseler and Andrew Haberman, but the Blue Devils could not cut into the Blue Jay lead still trailing 37-30 with one quarter to go.

The Blue Devils would mount a rally from threepoint range in the final quarter. A pair of threes by Carson Wieseler and one each by Dylan Heine and Killian Steinhaus helped cut the Blue Jay lead to just three points with under a minute to play in the game.

Kralik hit a pair of baskets for GACC and the Blue Jays made 9 of 13 free throws down the stretch to seal the 52-47 win.

OSMOND — The Wynot Blue Devils would rebound on Friday night when they earned another Lewis and Clark Conference win by downing the Randolph-Osmond Hawks by a final score of 68-45.

Most of the Blue Devils fire power on offense came from behind the three point line as they rained in 12 field goals from behind the arc. Wynot would build a big 37-14 halftime lead as they withstood a mini rally by the Hawks in the fourth quarter to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Wynot was lead by the long range shooting of Dylan Heine and Zack Foxhoven who finished with 18 and 12 points respectively. Killian Steinhaus and Kotner Koch helped the Wynot cause coming off the bench to also hit from long-range. Carson Wieseler also hit twice from three point land for the Blue Devils.

Randolph-Osmond got a nice game from Owen Severson who finished with 17 points and Logan Lienemann had a good fourth-quarter contributing eight points to the Hawks offensive output.

Wynot would open the game on a 11-0 run to take an early 17-8 lead. Dylan Heine had the hot hand for the Blue Devils hitting twice from long range to amass 11 quick points.

Owen Severson and Xander Brown hit three pointers for the Hawks.

Owen Seversen would connect for all six of the Hawks second quarter points.

Zack Foxhoven drained a trio of three pointers and Dylan Heine added another to his totals as Wynot opened up a 37-14 lead at halftime.

The Hawks started to find some offense in the third quarter as Sevensen and Lienemann each connected for five points in the period.

Wynot stayed hot however as they got a pair of treys by Killian Steinhaus and one each from Foxhoven and Carson Wieseler along with baskets from Joe Sudbeck and Kason Koch to increase their lead to 57-28 with one period left to play.

The Hawks tried to mount a rally in the fourth quarter with five points each by Owen Seversen and Logan Lienemann, along with seven of 10 free throws.

Wynot countered with six points from Kotner Koch and another trey by Carson Wieseler as they earned the 68-45 win.

Wynot took on Homer Tuesday to and will host Wausa on Friday.
