1993: Hartington marching band picks up top honors in Wayne

HARTINGTON — The annual reunion of the WWII Army Anti-Tank Company was held this past Saturday. Ten veterans and their wives from Coleridge, Hartington, Norfolk, Oregon, Arizona, Minnesota, and Ohio were present.

HARTINGTON — The Hartington Wildcats marching band, under the direction of Mrs. Sharyn Whipple, took first place in Class D at the annual Wayne State College Band Day.

HARTINGTON — Tim Pick, Hartington, will be the first man in the nation to sign up for the new FmHa Administration program. This program is designed to help beginning farmers and ranchers obtain financing to purchase land, livestock, machinery, and provide operations capital.

HARTINGTON — Dean Folkers, a vocational-agriculture teacher at Lakeview High School, was recently named the Outstanding Young Agriculture Teacher of Nebraska at the Nebraska Vocational Agricultural Association’s state convention.

He is the grandson of Teresa Heimes and Edna Folkers, both of Hartington.

HARTINGTON — Kurt Hoesing and Shelly Christensen were named Homecoming king and queen this year at Cedar Catholic High School.

HARTINGTON — The Cedar Catholic Trojans football team blanked Crofton last Friday 39-0. Ryan Hochstein led the rushing offense with eight carries for 116 yards.
