HARTINGTON — The Cedar County Farmers Union held its annual election of officers in the Union Hall in this city yesterday afternoon.
There was a good attendance and folks from all over the county were represented. The meeting was called to order by retiring President K.P. Jensen.
An account of the annual picnic held last month was read and it was agreed it was one of the most successful social gatherings of its kind ever held in Cedar County.
The financial aspect of the picnic was, according to the report, quite as successful as the social side and a substantial sum of money remained in the treasury after all the bills were paid.
A report was also read showing a substantial increase in membership and that the financial condition of the organization was in excellent condition.
It was voted at the meeting to use money on hand to renovate, redecorate and refurnish the Union Hall, which was damaged by fire a few months ago.
The room will be remodeled, painted and varnished and several new pieces of furniture will be added to the hall.
The hall is commodious, well lighted and conveniently located and, when newly decorated, will be one of the most up-to-date meeting places in the county.
Following the business session, election of officers was held.
H.L. Evans was elected president; G.E. Doane, Vice President, Ed Trhlar, secretary-treasurer,and Walter Dresden was elected director.

HARTINGTON — The members of the Knights of Columbus Council 1233 of Hartington held their annual election of officers Tuesday.
The following were chosen by the Council: John A. Thoene of Bow Valley, grand knight; V.C. Hertert, deputy grand knight; John Reifenrath, Crofton, chancellor; F.G. Bruening, treasurer; Wm. J. Fleming, receiving secretary; M.M. Dendinger, warden; A.K. LAmmers, advocate;’ John Goebel, trustee ; John Hochstein, inside guard; Geo. Hans, Wynot, outside guard.
