HARTINGTON — A storm-related eight vehicle pile-up near Hartington Sunday left three people hospitalized.

State Trooper Ken Meier said all eight vehicles were traveling south on Highway 81 approximately five miles south of Pleasant Valley at 2:20 p.m. when the accident occurred.

The lead vehicle, he said, became stuck sideways in the highway and a series of collisions followed when trailing vehicles were unable to stop. Visibility at the time of the accident was near zero due to blowing snow, Meier said.

Hospitalized and listed in good condition were: Eileen M. Glusick, 23 of Norfolk, fractured hip; Michael Nissen, 23, Hartington, fractured hip; and Lavonda J. Peters, 55 , Norfolk, facial cuts.
