HARTINGTON — Seven members of the Hartington First Congregational Church in Hartington attended a religious education and Sunday school training session in Brunswick last week.

They are Mrs. Deward Erickson, Mrs. Norman Morten, Mrs. Walter Hively, Mrs. Ted Gildersleeve, Mrs. Harold Lorentzen, Dean Marsh and Rev. H. William Arms.

HARTINGTON — John Suing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Zeno Suing, Hartington, left Nov. 10 from Sioux City for Fort Dix in New Jersey. From there, he flew to Hamburg, Germany where he is currently stationed.

HARTINGTON — Suellen Beuck and Charles Eickhoff have announced their engagement. Suellen is the daughter of Mrs. John Beuck and the late John Beuck, Hartington. Charles is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eickhoff, Fordyce.

HARTINGTON — Ted Anderson and Walt Hively were busy the past few days putting up brackets on the light poles for Christmas decorations. The decorations will be hung and ready to go either late this week or early next week.

HARTINGTON — Lawrence Anderson, a farmer near Maskell, was killed Monday morning while digging out a cesspool with his hired hand. Funeral services will be held today in Laurel at 1 p.m. and in Obert at 2 p.m.

HARTINGTON — Wilmer Vanness, Hartington, suffered a heart attack Monday morning and was taken to the Osmond hospital. His condition at press time was unknown. Wilmer and his son, Roger, own the R &W Market in Hartington.

HARTINGTON — Cedar County purchases of United States savings bonds amounted to more than $60,000 during October, according to Lawrence Rossiter, the county chairman.

HARTINGTON — F. M. Pembrook was driving west and Vern Murray was driving north on Main Street and went to turn to head east when their two cars collided. The accident happened Tuesday morning. Minor damage was done to Murray’s car.

HARTINGTON — Mrs. Richard Leise and her two daughters, Ida and Donna, recently returned home from a trip to Los Angeles, Calif. where they spent a week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Golaski.

HARTINGTON — Army Pvt. Robert Dresden completed an eightweek chemical course at the Chemical Center at Fort McClellan, Alabama earlier this month. Robert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Dresden, Hartington.

HARTINGTON — Hartington residents joined the rest of the nation in mourning the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Special services were held in Hartington and around the area.
