1958: Willms Oil Company marks 30 years in Coleridge

COLERIDGE — A record number of people attended the fall meeting of the Elkhorn Valley Association of Congregational Christian Churches held at the Pilgrim Congregational Church here this past Sunday. A total of 45 delegates were on hand along with 20 ministers and a 120 visitors.

COLERIDGE — Ed Brockman has purchased the equipment and merchandise of the Midwest Poultry Company and has renamed it Brockman Produce.

COLERIDGE — The Lutheran Brotherhood met Monday night in the Lutheran church basement. Two films were shown, “Refugees in the Holy Land” and “Spiritual Growth in a Merging Church.” Lunch was then served by Ernest Hartung, Jim Gray, and Willie Hansen.

COLERIDGE — Ed Collins plans to leave here today to travel to Kansas City where he will attend the dealer showing of the 1959 Dodge cars tomorrow.

COLERIDGE — The St. Michael’s Altar Society met Sept. 3 in the Church basement.

Twenty-one members were present. A vote was done and the group decided to sponsor two delegates so they could attend the archdiocesan convention in Omaha.

COLERIDGE — A funeral service was held here at the Immanuel Lutheran Church for George Konken who passed away Sept. 12 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

COLERIDGE — The Coleridge Bulldogs football team played well but dropped a close game to Winside this past Friday night, 19-18.

COLERIDGE — A car sustained major damage when Larry Meier rolled it while driving along old Highway 15.

COLERIDGE — Many people were on hand for the celebration at Willms Oil Company on Saturday, which marked them being in business for 30 years. A total of 539 people registered for door prizes.

COLERIDGE — The Wee Willing Workers Girls 4-H Club met in the home of Sharon Lindeman Sept. 15. All the members, leaders, and mothers were present. The girls discussed upcoming projects for the year. Dinner was served at the close of the meeting.

COLERIDGE — The Coleridge marching band, under the direction of Miss Doralee Wood, will participate in the annual Band Day event at Morningside in Sioux City Saturday.
