LINCOLN — Many things have changed over the past decade, but at least one thing remains unchanged — the importance of agriculture in Nebraska.
We live in a state where agriculture is our number one industry.
We know that it takes more than farmers and ranchers to make our food possible. One in four jobs are related to agriculture.
National Ag Week is happening March 22-28. Since agriculture is Nebraska’s number one industry, ag week is a good time to have a conversation about agriculture and recognize and thank the people behind the food, feed and fuel we depend on every day.

HARTINGTON — Mike Johnson enters his 22nd season as the head coach of the Cedar Catholic boys golf team and he has seen nothing like this in his career.

Everybody is just going to have to play it by ear, said HNS golf coach Ken Kneifl.
“Of utmost importance is the health and safety of the kids and of everyone. Of course, we want to play and compete but really, we need to do what is necessary to get this virus under control,” he said.
Then of course, a season in limbo is not something easy to wrap your mind around.

The Roseners, who attend junior high at Hartington-Newcastle public schools, are members of the Vermillion (S.D.) Area Swim Team that took part at the state short course meet March 1 in Watertown, S.D., at the Prairie Life Wellness Center and came back with plenty of hardware.
They also booked passage to the regional meet at the University of Minnesota March 29.

HARTINTON — COVID-19 has had no empathy for any walk of life across the planet while sports have taken a big hit across the globe.
This includes high school sports throughout America and the state, as the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) has halted all practices in Nebraska until the end of the month, and competition until April 2.
The Cedar Catholic track team had plenty of hope for this season – ones that are still intact today – and await the state’s decision on going forward.
“This is all uncharted waters for us, so we are trying to go on at this point,” Trojans head coach Chad Cattau said. “We have created a Facebook page for our team members, and we are placing daily workouts on there for them to follow.”
