Edith Rohde

RANDOLPH — Funeral services for Edith G. “Edie” Rohde, 99, Randolph, were Oct. 22 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randolph. Dwight Brummels, PMA, officiated, with interment in the Randolph City cemetery.

Visitation was one prior to service at the church. Home for Funerals - Randolph was in charge of arrangements. Edie died Oct. 18, 2026, at the Colonial Manor, Randolph. Edith Gayle was born June 16, 1927, in Crofton, to Charles and Lillian (Ballentyne) Burrus.

In 1943, Edie came to take care of the newborn baby and her brother at Bill and Ruth Puntney’s, where she made her home with the Puntney family on the farm; we feel this is where her love for children began. Many years later, they moved to town. Edie began working in the local grocery stores, where she enjoyed working with the community.

Edie married Merle Rhode Dec. 29, 1983, and they shared their home on the farm. Together they enjoyed gardening, playing cards, dancing, visiting with friends and continued to share in the lives of their extended families and their children’s lives.

After Merle died in 2001, Edie moved back to town, where she enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and eventually their children until moving to Colonial Manor in 2023.

She is survived by her step brother, Tom Burrus; and nieces, nephews and many friends who will cherish her memory.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle Rohde; Bill and Ruth Puntney; Roland “Butch” Puntney; sisters, Myra (Donald) Gronlund, Lois (Arel) Anderson, Betty (Clarence) Konken and Dorothy (Arthur) Petersen; and brothers, Willard (Thelma) Burrus; her twin, Earl Burrus; Bobby Burrus; Jim (Dorothy) Burrus; and Richard Burrus.
