OMAHA — Larry DeWayne Jensen, 77, Wayne, died Sept. 13, 2026, at the Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. Funeral service were Oct. 3 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Wayne. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Wayne. Visitation was Oct. 2. Larry DeWayne Jensen was born Aug. 24, 1949, in Wayne, to Pete and Ruby (Steffen) Jensen. He attended Wayne High School and left school before graduating to enter the workforce. Larry was married to Renee Huetig June 23, 1973, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Laurel. Larry held various jobs over the years, including working at the Ford Dealership in Wayne. He later worked at the REA and then Marra’s Home Improvement, where his love of construction began. It was while he was with Marra’s that Larry began his long career as a rural carrier for the Post Office, first working part-time and eventually moving into a full-time position. After leaving the Post Office, he enjoyed the retired life for a short time, but he began working at Sand Creek Post & Beam part-time to keep himself busy.

In his early years, Larry enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife, Renee, and later enjoyed hunting and firing his impressive collection of guns at the shooting range. Larry enjoyed spending his free time visiting with friends and family, frequenting local gas stations and coffee shops and driving around town in his 2012 Camaro and Polaris Ranger 1000. He is remembered by many for his infectious laugh and giving nature, always willing to lend a hand.

Larry is survived by his sister, Lois Wells, Omaha; sisters-in-law, Diane (Gerold) Herrick, Edmunds, Wash., and Linda Campbell, Seward; brother- in-law, Scott (Maggie) Huetig, Concord; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Renee, in 2013; parents, Pete and Ruby Jensen; and his father- and mother-in-law, Roland and Dorothy (Karnes) Huetig.

Memorials may be directed to the Jensen family for later designation.
