Charles Eickhoff

NEBRASKA CITY —Charles A. Eickhoff, age 87 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on September 12, 2026 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. Charles Alfred Eickhoff was born to Frank A. and Martha M. (Walz) Eickhoff on March 20, 1939 in Beaver Creek, NE at the family farm home. He grew up in Fordyce, NE, where he attended country school and rode a horse to get to school. He graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington, NE with the Class of 1957. He then attended Creighton University, where he received his Bachelor in Science Pharmacy in 1962. He was in R.O.T.C. during his time at Creighton and then entered the United States Army on January 6, 1963 and proudly served his country. While in the military he went to Medical Field Service School at Ft. Sam Houston and Medical Service Corps Officer Training. He obtained the rank of 1st Lieutenant and served as the Administrative Officer of the USA Dispensary at the Boston Army Base. He was honorably discharged on January 5, 1965.

On February 8, 1964, Chuck was united in marriage to Suellen Claire Beuck at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington, NE. After their marriage, they lived in Boston while he served in the military. They moved to Shenandoah, IA in 1965 where he worked at Jay Drug before moving to Nebraska City, NE, where he owned and operated Jessup Drug with William Carroll. In addition, he served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmacy for Creighton University and Special Appointment Instructor of Pharmacy for University of Nebraska Medical Center. He retired in April of 2000. He was a member of the American Legion, the Elks and the Eagles.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters: Joan Bradley (Jeff) of Nebraska City, NE and Amy Jahn (Jeff) of Columbus, NE; daughter-in-law Lia Eickhoff of Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren: Emily Kenney, Luke Bradley, Joe Jahn (Kaylin), Caitlin Jahn, Ellie Jahn, Hallie Kratzer (Jon), Russell Pettigrew, Adam Pettigrew (Paige) and Mathew Pettigrew; three great-grandchildren: Charlie Beuck Kenney, Raelia and Rylun Pettigrew; sisters-in-law: Betty Eickhoff of Hartington, NE, Joan Eickhoff of Omaha, NE, Della Eickhoff of Fordyce, NE and Margaret Doyle of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law Donn Morris of Westminster, CO; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Suellen Eickhoff on August 12, 2023; son Steven Eickhoff on November 28, 2015; his parents and brothers: Harold, Robert (Alice), Daniel, Donald, Edward and Lawrence Eickhoff.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City, NE with Fr. Matthew Eickhoff celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City with Military Honors conducted by the Nebraska Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail and the Talmage American Legion Post.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thurs. (9/17) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. led by Fr. Jeff Eickhoff.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City.
