SCOTLAND, S.D. — Arlo J. Burbach, Scotland, S.D., died unexpectedly Aug. 25, 2026, of medical complications. He was 60 years old. Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 31 at St. George Catholic Church, Scotland. Burial was at St. George Catholic Cemetery, Scotland. Arlo was born April 27, 1966, in Wayne. He attended Bow Valley grade school, St. Helena middle school, and Wynot High School, graduating in 1985. He farmed on the family farm for a couple years after high school, and then farmed with his brother, Dale, in Crofton for a couple of years before purchasing his farm place in Scotland in 1993, where he has lived ever since. He was in the dairy business until 2008.

Arlo’s faith was important to him during his life. He enjoyed hav ing horses, watching rodeos and participating in local parades driving horses pulling a stagecoach.
He battled diabetes for over 25 years before receiving a kidney and pancreas transplant March 14, 2023.
He is survived by his siblings, Esther Robinson, Don (Deena) Burbach, Arlene (Steve) Kramer, Dale (Mary) Burbach, Bev (Donnie) Hoebelheinrich, Beth Burbach (sister-in-law), Floyd (Julie) Burbach, Norma (Bruce) Pokorny, Leo (Bonnie) Burbach, Lee Burbach and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Roman and Roseline Burbach; brother, Kelly Burbach; brother-in-law, Rodney Robinson; and nephew, James Robinson.
