Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington with the Rev. Amanda Talley officiating. Burial will be at the Maskell Cemetery in Maskell following a lunch at the church. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington and will continue on Saturday, at church, one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Pallbearers will be Tucker Stockwell, Baylee Garner, Judd Garner, Tessa Lierz, Reese Lierz, Lorie Opfer

and Maya Knutson.

Lorellie Carolyn was born on March 31, 1945 in Newcastle to Leslie Louis and Ruby Clarice (Birkley) Rahn. She grew up in Maskell and graduated from Kellbert High School in Maskell in 1963 and then graduated from Nettelton Business School in Sioux City, Iowa. On September 19, 1965 she married David Earl Opfer in Maskell. They lived in Wakefield for five years and later moved to Hartington in 1974 and moved into town in 1989. Lorie worked for Radec Construction as a secretary for 20 years and most recently at Hartington-Newcastle School in the cafeteria.

Lorie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She volunteered often to help serve funeral luncheons and also volunteered at the Trinity Lutheran Fair stand. Lorie played piano for the children’s choir years ago. She loved to copy down new recipes and enjoyed sharing her cooking with her family. Lorie loved her family and cherished moments spent with them. She especially enjoyed her grandkids, whom she was extremely proud of. She may be best remembered for her funny comebacks and one liners.

Lorie is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Tonya (Michael) Stockwell of Columbus and their children Tucker Stockwell of Columbus and Baylee (Judd) Garner of Grand Island, Stacy (Todd) Knutson of Hartington and their children Tessa (Reese) Lierz of Omaha and Maya Knutson of Creighton; brother Calvin (Saundra) Rahn of Ponca; sister-in-law Earleen (Tim) Gansebom of Norfolk; sister-in-law Janice Rahn of Newcastle, and sister-in-law Kathy (Ray) Knutson of Hartington.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ruby and Leslie Rahn; husband David Opfer on Feb. 13, 2011 at the age of 68 years; brother Lowell Rahn; and brother-in-law Daniel Opfer.
