Funeral Services will be on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge with Deacon Brandi Painter officiating.
Burial will be at Lawn Ridge Cemetery in rural Coleridge with military rites by the Coleridge American Legion Post 114. Visitation will be on Friday, at church, one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge.
Pallbearers will be Tony Kalin, Matt Kalin, Nick Frerichs, Andy Jueden, Justin Bartling, Chris Bartling, Davis Bartling and Jeff Wolfe. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Frerichs, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandson Dalelyn.
Dale William was born on August 23, 1936 to Martin H. and Laura A. (Frerichs) Bartling on a farm five miles west of Coleridge. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge. He attended Lone Star and Logan View country schools and graduated from Coleridge High School in 1953. Dale was drafted into the Army in November 1955 and served until November 1957. Dale married Sharon J. Brockman on June 5, 1959, and they started farming southeast of Laurel. They joined the United Lutheran Church in Laurel in 1959. Dale and Sharon moved to a farm east of Coleridge. To this union six children were born – Sheila, Janell, Kimberly, Carmen, Calvin and Troy. Sharon passed away from cancer at the age of 34 years on May 12, 1975. Dale quit farming in 1980 and then began working for Holmquist Grain and Lumber for 12 ½ years. He then worked for the Coleridge Dehy for 10 years. Dale worked part-time for the town of Coleridge for 12 years.
Dale served on the church board for five years, ushered and was the Sunday School Superintendent for two years at the United Lutheran Church in Laurel. Dale moved into Coleridge in 1984 and re-joined the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Dale is survived by his six children and their spouses – Sheila (Marv) Grindvold of Hartington, Janell (Chad) Frerichs of Coleridge, Kimberly (Don) Neuhalfen of Sioux Falls, S.D., Carmen (Terry) Jueden of Hartington, Calvin (Rhonda) Bartling of Howells, Troy (Cassie) Bartling of Lincoln; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and two on the way, great-great grandson Dalelyn and one great-great grandchild on the way; a sister Berdine (Harold) Brunssen of Coleridge; two brothers, Keith (Lynda) Bartling of Coleridge and Bruce (Linda) Bartling of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Laura Bartling; parents-in-law Marvin (Lavina) Brockman; wife Sharon on May 12, 1975 at the age of 34 years; son-in-law Gerald Kalin on July 8, 2007 at the age of 50 years.
