Funeral services were June 6 at the United Presbyterian Church, Laurel, with the Rev. Charity Potter officiating.
Burial was at the Laurel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Todd Johnson, Andy Johnson, Colton Johnson, Landon Johnson, Kenny Johnson and Kyle Brasch. Honorary pallbearers were Dan Vanderheiden, Les Bohlken, Randy Rasmussen, Earl Rasmussen, Greg Kvols, Dave Tuttle, Bill Perdue, Chuck Hirshman, Euni Diediker and Pat Morris.
Visitation was Friday, at church and continued Saturday, one hour prior to services.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.
Lenard Gene was born Nov. 27, 1954, in Wayne, to Lauren “Shorty” and LaVerne (Thomsen) Johnson. He grew up and lived in Laurel his entire life. Lenard graduated from Laurel-Concord High School in 1973. Skinner hauled milk for AMPI of Laurel before he worked at the fertilizer plant for many years. He then drove truck for Waldbaum’s Egg Factory. Skinner also hauled concrete and gravel for Leon May. He had a couple tire shops and also farmed a few years. Skinner’s last employment was driving a truck for Belden Grain.
Lenard really enjoyed watching the Husker sports programs on TV. He liked his beer and also going to Euni’s Palace in Dixon on a regular basis for a morning soda and a donut.
Lenard is survived by one brother, Lowell Johnson, Belden; two nephews, Todd (Jill) Johnson, Correctionville, Iowa, and Andy (Sara) Johnson, North Platte; great-nieces and -nephews Colton, Landon, Lauren, Abby and Kenny Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lauren and LaVerne Johnson; and sister-in-law, Suzette Johnson.
