Kathryn Rosella “Kathy” Horner Dunlap

Kathy was bom March 27,1944, in Loves Park, 111., to Norman and Elizabeth Homer. She grew up in the area and attended Harlem High School. She married Jack Metheny and together they welcomed three children, Edward, who died at birth, David and Penny. After she and Jack divorced, Kathy moved to Nebraska with her children, where she would spend the rest of her life.
Kathy worked at Oakland Heights Nursing Home for more than 20 years, where she truly loved caring for the residents. She was deeply devoted to her work and was cherished by both the residents and her coworkers. During her years there, Kathy formed many lasting friendships that remained dear to her throughout her life.
Kathy also had many hobbies and simple joys that brought her happiness throughout the years. She loved fishing, traveling, taking long drives and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed being outdoors and surrounded by nature. For the last four years, Kathy shared a veiy special bond with her beloved dog, Grayson. He was her faithful companion, her pal and she loved and spoiled him as if he were her own child. Above all else, Kathy was a devoted mother to her children and a loyal friend to eveiyone fortunate enough to know her. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone was in need, rarely knowing how to say no to anyone. Kathy had a big heart, a playful spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved joking around and teasing those she cared about and her laughter and warmth brightened the lives of the people around her eveiy day.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Nancy Fairbanks. She is survived by her brothers, Kenneth Homer and Douglas Homer, Rockford, 111.; and her sister, Judy Homer, Rockford, 111.; her son, David (Cammie) Metheny, Laurel; and daughter, Penny Metheny, Ardmore, Ala.; grandchildren, Madison (Dan) Loecker, Omaha; Miles (Jennifer Metheny), Yankton, S.D.; Jackson Metheny, Laurel; Justin (Jamin) Kay, Martinsburg; and Jarrod (Michelle) Hemmingsen, Lincoln; and 11 great-grandchildren.
