COLERIDGE — Judith Irene Hahne, 83, Coleridge, died April 26, 2026, at Faith Regional Hospital, Norfolk. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be April 30, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge, with the Rev. Kevin Vogle officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Coleridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge. Judith was born May 5, 1942, to Elmer Peck and Marie Neuhalfen- Peck in Hartington. She then moved to Texas with her mother and step father, Lyle Ferris. Judy and her family returned to Cedar County, where she graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1960. Judy attended business school in Omaha, then worked in New York City for Western Union. She married Merton Hahne June 14, 1962, and and they had three children, Angela Marie, David Joseph and Darin Jeffery.

While Mert was enlisted in the U.S. Army, they lived in Lawton, Okla. Mert, Judy and Angie then moved to St. Peters/O’Fallon, Mo., area where Judy worked as a lab technician for Monsanto. After Dave and Darin were born, Judy was a secretary for an insurance company before becoming a licensed insurance agent.

In 1981, they moved their family back to the Coleridge area. The couple enjoyed 15 winters at their home in Casa Grande, Ariz., once they retired. In 2025, Mert and Judy moved to Norfolk, where they resided at the Norfolk Veteran’s Home.

Judy and Mert enjoyed traveling and visiting with their family who lived across the United States, and they may have found every casino along the way.

Judy was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge. She played the piano and organ for many years. She also served as the treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 114.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Mert Hahne; their three children and spouses, Angie (Scott) Janssen, Hoskins; Dave (Angie) Hahne, Batavia, Ill.; and Darin (Carey) Hahne, Tilden; grandchildren, Brittany (Steve) Webber and Courtney (Nate) Rosenthal, and their daughters, Finley and Ruby; Hank and Tommy Hahne and Caleb Modlin; Rachal, Derek, Allison, and Owen Hahne; sister, Anita (John) Fuelberth; sisters-in-law, Rosey Hodges, Janet Jorgensen and Betty Peck; along with many nieces and nephews.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and step parents, Lyle Ferris and Faye Peck; brother, Gene Peck; and brothers and sistersin- law, Bob and Carol Hahne; Neil Hodges, Gerald “Smoke” Heil and Dewey Jorgensen.
