LAUREL — Walter “Wally” G. Loeb, age 91, Laurel, died Feb. 16, 2026, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D.

Funeral Services were Feb. 23 at United Lutheran Church, Laurel Visitation was from 10 a.m., to service time at United Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Laurel Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Hasemann Funeral Home, Wayne.

Walter Gene “Wally” Loeb was born Oct. 26,1934, in Hartington, to Marven Edward and Augusta Dorothea (Evers) Loeb. He was a 1953 graduate of Laurel High School. He farmed for a few years near Laurel. Wally married Anna “Faye” Jacobsen Ward June 13,1979, in Hartington. The couple lived in Laurel where Wally owned and operated the Friendly Corner Tavern, later the Corner Mart, and then was a federal crop adjuster for several years.

He enjoyed playing bingo, crossword puzzles, attending tractor pulls and watching Chicago Cubs baseball. Wally was an avid fan of all Husker sports.

Wally is survived by his step daughters, Kathy (Mark) Alshouse, Ft. Calhoun; Cindy (Bill) Genthe, Auburn; and Marcia Peers, Laurel; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Judith (John) Williams, Carroll; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding Wally in death were his parents; wife, Faye in 2010; and nephew, Jason Williams.

Memorials may be directed to Wally’s family for later designation.
