Bev grew up in Nebraska and attended high school in Concord, later moving to Sioux City, Iowa, a place that would forever hold a piece of her heart. She married Joseph West Nov. 5, 1950, beginning a marriage built on devotion, faith and family. Together, they made their home in Sioux City, Iowa, where they lived before moving to Omaha in 2006, to be closer to family.
Bev spent over 30 years working at Younkers, where her warmth and kindness made lasting impressions on co-workers and customers alike. She retired in 1995, and spent her time tending to her garden, canning and crocheting. Bev was known for her amazing cooking and baking; no one ever left her table hungry.
A woman of deep faith, Bev loved her family fiercely. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a grandmother who found her greatest joy in spoiling her grandchildren.
Bev truly lit up every room she entered. Her smile, her laughter, her perfectly put-together appearance—right down to her beautifully painted nails— were part of who she was. Even in her later years, she remained elegant, kind and full of grace. Her heart was generous and her presence unforgettable.
At Esprit Whispering Ridge, Bev found not just care, but community. The residents, caretakers and friends she made there adored her. She was cherished, celebrated and surrounded by people who knew just how special she was.
