COLERIDGE — Memorial Graveside Services for Betty Lou Finley, age 86, of Laurel will be held at the Laurel Cemetery in the Spring 2026. The family plans to honor their mother’s love of greeting cards by requesting a memorial card shower for her. Family Arrangements with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

She passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge. Betty Lou Finley was born April 11, 1939, to Verlin Lars and Mildred Theresa (Wren) Jensen in Hartington. She attended school in Obert until the 4th grade, and one room country schoolhouse before attending Laurel Public Schools beginning in the 7th grade. She was a graduate of Laurel High School.

While working at the Laurel grocery store, she met the love of life, Wayne Finley. They were married on Aug. 23, 1959, in Obert. Wayne and Betty moved to Omaha where he continued his college education. After college, they moved to Sacramento, California for a year, before moving to Columbus. In 1964, they moved to Laurel where they started Finley Home Improvement and furniture store. Looking for new opportunities in the summer of 1978 they moved their family to Brush CO. In 2015, after retiring, the couple moved to Rapid City SD. Then after Wayne passed away, Betty moved back to Laurel in 2022.

Betty had experience in many careers over the years, from being a homemaker and mom, to working as a bank teller, manager of a photo studio, business co-owner and office manager, florist, and in real estate office.

Betty is survived by her; four children, Steve (Sherry) Finley of Ocala, FL, Randy Finley of Snyder, CO, Tammy Finley of Laurel and Chad Finley of Cleveland, OK; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (June) Jensen of Carthage, TX and Larry (Kathy) Jensen of Colorado Springs, CO, Sarah (Gene) Granquist of Norfolk, Sally Urwiler of Russellville, AR, many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne on March 31, 2019.
