CROFTON — Delores LaCroix, died peacefully Nov. 7, 2025, at her home in Crofton, at the age of 86.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-7 p.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton, and will continue Thursday, one hour prior to services.

Funeral services will be Nov. 13, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Crofton, with the Rev. Amanda Talley officiating. Services will also be livestreamed at www. facebook.com/WintzRay/live.

Burial will be at the Crofton City Cemetery.

Pallbearers are her grandsons, Neal LaCroix, Nathan LaCroix, Luke LaCroix, Cody LaCroix, Caden Michael, Kyle LaCroix, Kolby LaCroix, Keenan LaCroix and Tegan LaCroix.

Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Amy LaCroix, Lisa Olson, Mariah Likness, Camry Michael, Bailey LaCroix and Erica LaCroix.

Delores was also blessed with several step grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin and Jessica Jensen; Gerry, Joe and Leo Hastreiter; Shari Ebdrup and Mikyla Miller; Josh, Chad, Brett and Drew Allen; and Madison LaCroix and Alexis Nicolaisen.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton.

Delores was born Aug. 13, 1939, to Fred and Emma (Buskirk) Tweedy in Verdel. She grew up in Verdel, and attended Verdel High School. She married Merlin LaCroix Dec. 21, 1956, in Vermillion, S.D. Delores was the very heart of her family — a woman whose love for her family defined every day of her life. Though widowed many years ago, s he carried the memory of her husband, Merlin, the love of her life, in ev ery breath and in her heart every day. Even in his absence, she lived each day as a testament to the bond they shared.

Delores loved her kids and she was a mother and grandmother to many other non-family members. She was a great cook, making cinnamon rolls, buns, and her apple, cherry and lemon pies. Delores went to all her grandchildren’s events she could.

She loved sports, baseball, fishing, the Huskers, country music, dancing, bingo and gambling adventures. She took many driving trips with her sisters making lasting memories. She always attended her family reunions held in Wahoo. Delores was always willing to babysit her grandchildren. She loved caring for the flowers she placed on Merlin and Mervin’s gravesite.

She is survived by her children: Marlin (Laurie) LaCroix, Yankton, S.D.; Mitchell (Geralyn) LaCroix, Yankton, S.D.; Mark (Kay) LaCroix, Yankton, S.D.; Matt (Kaylee) LaCroix, Hot Springs, S.D.; Melinda (Justin) Michael, Crofton; and Merlin (Heather) LaCroix, Yankton, S.D.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon (Lawrence) Kaiser, Ceresco.

She is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husban, Merlin, and son, Mervin, dancing to her favorite country songs along with grandsons, Nicholas “Nick” LaCroix and Kyle Mueller; sister, Darlene E. LaCroix; brother-in-law, Bud LaCroix; sisters, Etta Lucas and Donna Milliken; and brothers, Marion Tweedy, Ben Tweedy, Harold Tweedy, Richard Tweedy and Kenneth Tweedy.
