HARTINGTON — Edwin T. Meyer, 83, Hartington, died Nov, 6, 2025, at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, S.D. Mass of Christian Burial will be Nov. 12, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers will be Bob Meyer, Larry Meyer, Steve Meyer, Wayne Bena, Roger Bonertz, Brandon Clausen and Chace Clausen. Visitation will be Wednesday, 9-10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
Edwin Theodore was born at home Dec. 27, 1941, at Hartington. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington. He attended Holy Trinity High School, graduating in 1961. After high school, he worked at the Human Service Center, Yankton, S.D., where he met his wife, Betty Eidsness. They were married Aug. 8, 1970, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Ed worked various jobs, and in July 1988, he was hired as custodian for Holy Trinity Grade School, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in May 2022.
Ed and Betty weren’t blessed with any children, but Ed called the kids at school his kids. He loved to attend Holy Trinity and Cedar Catholic sports and school events. The Chicago Clubs were his and Betty’s favorite team.
Ed was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he was an EME and held a holy hour for many years. Due to health issues, Ed entered Majestic Bluffs in June 202 4.
Ed is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Bill (Pat) Meyer, Hartington; sister-in-law, Mary Meyer, Moorhead, Minn.; and brother-in-law, Harry Eidsness, Canton, S.D.; nieces and nephews, Lisa Meyer, Larry (Shelli) Meyer, Bob (Wendy) Meyer, Jodie (Rick) McCoy, Jill (Wayne ) Bena, Amanda (Joe) Potts, Brenda (Brent) Srejma, Peggy (Andy) Meyer and Steve (Amy) Meyer.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sarah Meyer; wife, Betty, Nov. 2, 2005; two brothers Jerry and Ken Meyer; sistersin- law, Alice Meyer and Diane Eidsness; niece, Cheryl Meyer; and great-nephew, James “Jamie” Martinez.
In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Grade School or Hartington Senior Center in Ed’ s memory.
