Wayne died Aug. 24, 2025, at the Norfolk Veterans Home, Norfolk.
Interment will be at the Laurel City Cemetery, Laurel, following the funeral luncheon.
Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, and the United States Army Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Wayne was born March 4, 1931, in Laurel, to Mark and Alta (Eby) Seibert. He grew up in the Laurel/Coleridge area. He graduated from Coleridge High School in 1948. Wayne served in the United States Army from April 14, 1952 to March 5, 1954. He married Mary Ann Hinrichs June 3, 1954, at United Presbyterian Church, Laurel. After they married, the couple lived in Laurel for a year, then moved to the Seibert family farm ten miles north of Laurel. Wayne filled his days farming, raising livestock, and selling Dekalb seed corn. They moved off the farm to Norfolk in 2007.
They were members of First Presbyterian Church, Norfolk. Wayne was active in the church, serving as an elder, and was a member of the V.F.W. Wayne volunteered at the food pantry, and always lent a helping hand that was needed, along with spending time at the Orphan Grain Train. Wayne and Mary Ann moved to the Norfolk Veterans Home in 2023.
Survivors include four daughters, Kimberly Wetjen, Humphrey; Laurie Seibert, Tulsa, Okla.; Jane Seibert, Marlton, N.J.; Paula (Paul) Perske, David City; three grandchildren, Kara (Tim) Gronenthal, Justin (Sheena) Wetjen and Olivia Perske; great-grandchildren, Allissia (Bryan) Harms, Ashley Gronenthal, Elsie Wetjen, Ciera Predmore, Korbin Predmore and Saige Predmore; great-great-grandchildren, Danielle, Brynleigh and Hayden Harms.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Seibert, May 26, 2025; son-in-law, Larry Wetjen; grandson-in-law, Jeff Gronenthal; parents, Mark and Alta Seibert; brother, Robert Seibert; and sister, Barbara Soderberg.
