WAKEFIELD - Mae Phyllis (Salmon) Pearson-Schwarten, 95, Wakefield, formerly of Concord, died Aug. 6,2025, at the Wakefield Health Care Center.

Mass Of Christian Burial was Aug. 9 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dixon.

Visitation and a vigil service were Aug. 8 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dixon.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Interment was in the Concord Cemetery. Mae was bom Jan. 10,1930, in Concord, to Fred Dietrich and Helena Katherine (Mecke) Salmon. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dixon. Mae married Nels Dale Pearson Jan. 20,1951, in Wayne, living and farming on the Pearson Family Farm near Concord. Dale retired in 1987, and following Ms death in 1995, Mae married Merle Schwarten Nov. 14,1998, and moved to Wakefield. Following Merle’s death in 2015, she moved to an apartment and later to the Wakefield Cafe Center.

Mae was a hard-working farm wife and mother, and variously employed as a baker/cook/dietitian, at Bill’s GW Market and Providence Medical Center in Wayne, and Laurel-Concord Schools, Wagon Wheel Steakhouse and Gary’s Food Town in Laurel.

Mae was a Meriy Homemaker, 4H leader, and an avid league bowler who enjoyed baking and playing cards. Later in life, she had fun on senior bus trips, gaming, doing puzzles, watching birds and seeing her beloved family.

Mae is survived by her children, Leila (Richard) Fischer, Wakefield; Duane (Jean) Pearson, Lincoln; June Bums, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Paul (Heather) Pearson, Omaha; grandchildren, Valerie (Jason) Hangman, Laurel, and Jason(Amanda) Fischer, Wakefield; Erik (Kelli) Pearson, Eagle; Kara (Jason) Parga, Mark Pearson and Laura (Ben) Tvrdy, Lincoln; Camélia, Tavia and Christina Bums, Colorado Springs, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Mitchell (Keiziah), Kolton and Lane Fischer; Kyler and Rilyn Hangman, Riley, Tyler, Madilyn and Myles Parga; Sage, Nora, and Reid Pearson, Lena, Julius, and Viktor Tvrdy, Shannon (Zac) Spence, Dalen, Damarious, Xavier, Jadyn, Deja, and Desmond Bums; great-great-grandchildren, Cameron and Riley Spence; sister, Man' Ann Garvin, Dixon; step daughters, Christine Still, Colorado, and Kathy (Randy) Bird, Wakefield; step daughter-in-law, Vicki (Mike) Loofe, Wakefield; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers-in-law, John Virgil (Avis) Pearson and Bill Garvin; her Salmon siblings and their spouses, Frederick, Allen, Ilene (Andersen), Irene (Manto), Helen (Hattig), Leo, Harold, Elmer, Lucille (Taylor), Caroline (Gordon), Leonard, Kenneth and Dean; granddaughter, Jayme Fischer; step sons, Doug Schwarten and Brad Schwarten; step son-in-law, Randy Still; and step granddaughter, Megan Schwarten.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
