Mass of Christian Burial will be July 9, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crofton, with the Rev. David Liewer officiating.
Burial will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Crofton.
Pallbearers will be LeRay Anderson II, Dustin Anderson, David Johnson, Patrick Kelly, Robert Bollich, Jason Loecker, Troy Loecker, Nathan Loecker and Patrick Schmidt.
Visitation and a vigil service were Tuesday, at church, and will continue Wednesday, one hour prior to services.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton.
Lois Ann was born May 26, 1964, in Yankton, S.D., to Anthony and Lorraine (Arens) Schmidt. She grew up in the St. Helena and Wynot areas and graduated from Wynot High School in 1982. Lois married Michael Schieffer Aug. 12, 1989, in St. Helena. She worked at M-Tron in Yankton for five years before helping her husband Michael on the farm. She he lped milk cows until they sold their dairy herd about two and one ha lf years ago. Lois loved animals and especially her dogs and cats. She always made time to give them attention each day. Lois was the bookkeeper for Schieffer Farms.
Lois was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She raised a big garden and canned her produce. Lois was her own “Mr. Fixit” on the farm, tackling plumbing or machinery. She loved going to the casino and an occasional trip to Las Vegas. Lois had a green thumb which is evident both inside and outside her home. She loved being home with Michael and her girls, or helping to watch her girls’ dogs. Lois was always there for her girls during the hard times and the good times. She enjoyed the bus trips she and Mike took and always liked to be a sharp dresser. L ois always enjoyed getting her nails done and pedicures too. She always took charge to provide a big meal for the Holidays and other special occasi ons.
Lois is survived by her husband, Michael, Crofton; three daughters, Samantha (Dennis) Hawk, Gayville, S.D.; Cecely Schieffer, Valley; Maxine Schieffer, Wisner; grand pup, Willard, and Lois’ dogs, Rusty and Magnum; nine siblings, Elaine (Dean) Sudbeck, Yankton, S.D.; George Schmidt, St. Helena; Sharon (Wally) Goddard, South Sioux City; Dennis (Bev) Schmidt, Yankton, S.D.; Debra (Mark) Loecker, Fordyce; Arlene (Joe) Brandt, Yankton, S.D.; Kevin Schmidt, St. Helena; Marty Schmidt, Yankton, S.D.; and Michael Schmidt of Yankton, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Lorraine Schmidt; brother, Duane Schmidt; and a sister, Mary.
