Curtis Clayton was born Feb. 7, 1963, in Yankton, S.D., to Claire C. and Norma Jean (Heier) Janssen. He grew up in Coleridge, graduating from Coleridge High School in 1981. Curt worked seasonally at the Coleridge Dehy plant and then for Hartington Feed and Chick for 25 years. He started as a driver then worked at the Mill, and then at the Coleridge Elevator for several years. Curt had a stroke at the age of 59, which meant he needed to reside at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Laurel. When Hillcrest closed, he moved to Heritage Bel Air, Norfolk.

Curt was a quiet man but loved sports of all kinds, especially the Huskers, Minnesota Twins and the Coleridge Bulldogs. He raised stock cows until 2015. Curt also enjoyed going to bull and cattle sales. Curt could most times be seen wearing his bib overalls and the family asks that you dress casually for his services.

Curt is survived by two siblings, Scott (Angie) Janssen, Hoskins, and Marci (Dan) Ludwig, Wisner; nieces, Brittany (Steve) Webber, Wayne, and Courtney (Nate) Rosenthal; two great-nieces, Finley and Ruby Rosenthal; aunts and uncles; close friends, Fred (Sheryl) Kalin, Coleridge; Melissa (Rob) Engel, Randolph; John (Jess) Nelson, Maskell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Norma Janssen; grandparents; and two brothers, Brad and Jeff.
