PONCA — Stanley J. Kneifl, 77, rural Ponca, died peacefully of natural causes May 31, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., June 7, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Newcastle, with Father Rod Kneifl (Stanley’s brother) as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, adjacent to the church in Newcastle. Casket bearers for Stanley’s Mass will be Alexander Kneifl, Bud Jr. Kneifl, Kenneth Warren Robinson, Cristopher Kneifl, Bill Jansen and Jim Jansen. Visitation, with family present, will be June 6, from 5-8 p.m., with a Vigil Service beginning at 7 p.m., at the church in Newcastle. Meyer Brothers Funeral Home is assisting the family. Stanley was born April 11, 1948, in Newcastle, to Vincent “Murphy” and Marcella (Burbach) Kneifl. He graduated from Newcastle High School with the Class of 1967. Stanley married Jeanette Goeden Aug. 17, 1974, in Menominee. He was in the United States Army Reserves for several years before an auto accident forced his honorable discharge.
Stanley farmed the family farm for many years. He also did some construction work and later was a cross-the-road trucker until retirement.
Stanley was a member of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Newcastle, and enjoyed his membership to the Knights of Columbus within his Catholic faith.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Jeanette Kneifl; seven children, four sons, Bernard “Bud” Kneifl, Ponca; Vance (Tracey) Kneifl, Milford, Del.; Ryan Kneifl, Ponca; and Jeremy (Molly) Kneifl, Ponca; three daughters, Tammy (Kenneth) Robinson, Falls Church, Va.; Renee Kneifl, Ponca; and Cindy (Brandon) Grossrode, Tilden; brother, Fr. Rod Kneifl, Clarkson; sister, Twila (Art) Jansen, Fordyce; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Dallas Hochstein, LeRoy Goeden and Joseph Goeden; infant, Robin; and sisterin- law, Darlene Hayford.
Memorials may be directed to the family for designation on a later date.
